At PTI we realize that as we go about our day-to-day business, it’s easy to lose sight of the trials facing those in our community and in the world around us. That’s why we at PTI provide outlets for our employees to get involved. By encouraging a positive “giveback” attitude, we know we can have a tremendous impact and influence on the quality of peoples’ lives. Here are just a few events that we’re proud to say we’ve been an integral part of:

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Did you know one pint of blood can save up to three lives? That’s why PTI hosts blood drives with the American Red Cross several times per year. PTI employees are strongly committed to giving back to our community and patients across the nation by donating this precious gift of life.

Clinton River Cleanup

At PTI Engineered Plastics, we are big believers in environmental protection and waste reduction of our natural resources. In a continuing effort to give back to the planet, PTI employees volunteer at the Clinton River Cleanup every September, picking up debris, removing invasive species, and stenciling storm drains. The Clinton Clean-Up, sponsored by the Clinton River Watershed Council, is an annual campaign whose success depends on the combined effort of hundreds of individuals, businesses, local governments, and community organizations.

Disabled American Veterans

DAV is the most long-lasting veterans advocacy and assistance group in the United States. They are committed to empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

In an effort to support this legacy, Team PTI generously donated items to those who bravely served our country. Donations collected included: clothing, kitchenware, appliances, toys, technology, jewelry, and furniture.

Families Against Narcotics

Families Against Narcotics (FAN) was born out of a town hall meeting held in the community of Fraser, Michigan in 2007. The initial meeting was an opportunity for the community to gather together to discuss a growing drug epidemic. The Macomb County chapter of FAN still holds monthly meetings in the same church basement in Fraser, however now there are over 20 active chapters throughout the state. PTI has established FAN as one of its fund raising recipients in support of their endeavors to assist young people in their journey toward recovery.

PTI sponsors young people to be science and technology leaders. Yearly, we sponsor a robotics team from our community. These events teach students important life skills. FIRST was started in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology.

PTI employees again participated in the “Holiday Pantry Project” to aid the hundreds of people seeking food assistance. Employees’ enthusiastically contributed canned and dried food packages for those who were experiencing hunger and hardship.

Macomb Science Olympiad is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists, doctors, and engineers, through an extra-curricular education program that emphasizes a hands-on approach and develops problem-solving and teamwork skills. PTI is a proud sponsor of the Macomb Science Olympiad, where funding is needed to provide services and support to coaches and teams.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Nearly 250,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. The American Cancer Society holds Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events so anyone touched by breast cancer won’t have to face their diagnosis alone. Every three-five mile Making Strides walk in which PTI participates is a powerful and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast care survivors, and raise awareness about the steps we can take to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer.

PTI is a proud sponsor and host of Manufacturing Day held in October each year around the country.

Manufacturing Day is a national campaign designed to increase awareness about the important role manufacturing plays in our economy. The goal of Manufacturing Day is to dispel misperceptions that manufacturing is dirty, dangerous and financially unrewarding, and hopes to reduce the shortage of skilled labor by connecting manufacturers with future generations.

Relay For Life

PTI is a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event held each spring in Shelby Township Michigan.

Relay for Life is a signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, supporting local patient service programs like “Road to Recovery” and “Look Good Feel Good,” as well as providing funding for research grants awarded each year to scientists and students dedicated to discovering new treatments and the potential cure for cancer.

Relay for Life is held in 5,200 communities in the United States and 27 countries around the world. The first Relay for Life was held in 1985, and since that time more than $5 billion dollars has been raised for the fight against cancer. For more information visit

Tara Grant 5k walk & Run logo

Tara Grant 5K Walk & Run

PTI Employees participate in The Tara Grant Run/Walk, which began in 2007 as a way for Tara’s family to use her legacy to raise awareness of domestic violence. The event kicks off National Domestic Violence Month in October.

Walk for Warmth logo

Walk for Warmth

PTI continues to recognize the financial struggles of residents in Macomb County, especially during the winter months. Employees participate in the Walk for Warmth, which benefits the Macomb County Community Services Agency. Proceeds from this event are used to assist county residents with their heating bills and repairs to dangerous or malfunctioning furnaces. Walkers are required to collect pledges to participate in the event.

In a continuing effort to keep our community in-need warm during the winter months, PTI places a “Winter Giving Tree” in the facility through the holidays, where employees can hang their donations of new hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for all ages.
